Hello All!
We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer break. We are still fencing
hard and many of our fencers are preparing for Summer Nationals. This year,
we qualified 25 fencers from AFC going to Summer Nationals in Atlanta.
Congratulations to Adrian and Florin for all their hard work this season and
good luck to everyone attending Summer Nationals.
For those of you who may not know, Summer Nationals marks the end of the
fencing season. The club will be closed beginning June 27th so that our
coaches can attend Summer Nationals with our fencers. The tournament is
from the 29th of June until July 9th. After that, the coaches will take a
much needed and well deserved summer vacation. We will be sending out
information shortly about when the club will reopen and about the first
tournaments of the 2006/2007 season so that you can make plans to begin your
training and attend the early tournaments. The entire 2006/2007tournament
schedule will be posted on http://www.azfencingdivision.net
<http://www.azfencingdivision.net/> sometime at the end of July or the
first of August.
We will host a Fencing Parents information meeting Friday, August 26th at
7:00 p.m. So please mark your calendars and plan to join us for this
important meeting. We will discuss the 2006/2007 tournament schedule, how to
get started fencing competitively for those of you who are newer to the
sport, and answer any questions you might have about the tournament cycle.
This will also be a great opportunity for you to meet the other fencing
parents. More information will be sent out as the date approaches.
As a reminder, if you haven't paid June dues please either send them in, or
drop them off at the club. If you have already paid your dues for June,
thanks!!!
Also, we would like to remind everyone that the membership for AFC is year
round. So, while we would love to give you a break from dues in July and
August, the reality is, we simply can't. Membership dues go toward the
overhead of the club. While we do take a short break in the summer, the
club (which is the members) still has to pay the rent and utilities in July
and August. We understand that many of you will be out of town during July
and August so we have included the mailing address so that you can send your
membership dues in at your convenience.

We look forward to seeing everyone back in August. Thanks for your
assistance!
