Greetings to all,
It has come to my attention that there are a number of new AFC members who are not aware of the purpose behind our fund raising events.
Wonder no more- I am here to answer those questions.
Like you, I hear the words "fund-raiser" and cringe.
However, we are really trying to reduce some expenses for fencers and we can only do that through money making events.
We hold fund raisers to help reduce tournament expenses for fencers. Money that is raised goes into a general account and spread evenly amoung fencers who have participated in these events. We concentrate on NACs, youth circuit, Junior Olympics, and Summer Nationals.
Even if a young member is not planning on attending any of these this year, the fund raising events are excellent experiences. The Fence-a-thon is great practice and a lot of fun.
I hope this clears up any questions you have about the necessity of fund raising events. Please feel free to e-mail any other questions you have.
